Good times in the Holy Land

So I told everyone before I left that I would keep a blog because of my limited ways of contacting people in the Holy Land. I arrived here last week on Wednesday and since then so much has happened and with so many things going on it has been challenge to find time to blog. I have been getting up at four in the morning pretty much since I have been here just to be able to do as much as I can. But right now I am enjoying listening to one of my favorite bands Muse, with a group of friends, to Muse's new CD a couple days before it even comes out. To me this is a great way to end a day after visiting the Wailing Wall on the Jewish Sabbath. Sadly, earlier there was a shooting of two Palestine men on the route we had taken to get to the Wailing Wall. It made national news but this sort of thing is really not that typical for where we are. Everyone at the Center is okay and things are back to normal.

We did have to take the buses back instead of walking because there were some safety issues, though in the process of getting to the buses we ended up short one student. While everyone rode back I volunteered to go with one of the security guards to help look for the missing student because I knew what he looked like. We ran back to the Wailing Wall and when we could not find him we decided that he may have braved going to where the shooting had occurred and where we were trying to avoid. With no exaggeration we ran at full force to find this kid, with no luck, until finally after running for about 15 minutes we got a phone call saying that he made it to the center after getting a taxi. So we had another security guy pick us up and being drenched in sweat, we zoomed back to the center. But in our haste we stopped by a little eatery / bake shop once we were closer to the the center. When we got back we met up with five other security officers and we had some really good desert that I do not know how to pronounce, but maybe after some more Hebrew class, one day ... one day, as well as apricot juice. They told me I could have some in appreciation for helping them out, but they told me not to get use to it, jokingly. Right now we are just about to finish up our Muse Party and it has just been an awesome day in the Holy City.

I will play catch up for sure, I actually had to copy and paste this post from last nights because I think my account was hacked into so I had to make a new one. Right now I woke up sometime after 2 in the morning so that I can try to get everything done before I leave to Tel Aviv in less then 5 hours. Sleep is a beautiful thing but I'm really determined to stay on top of everything I need too and being able to soak up as much as I can while being here.
